What a weekend in Reardens and Havana Browns this past August Bank Holiday. The throngs of people that attended Indiependence in Mitchelstown and Oxegen in Punchestown didn’t have much affect on the crowds that wandered in and stumbled out of Reardens and Havana Browns over the course of the weekend.
Here is a quick recap of all the events over the busy and successful weekend
Friday 2nd August
Big Generator kicked off the weekends festivities in style with their loud and abrasive rock n’ roll set that really jacked up the crowds energy, for many a much appreciated pick me up after a long week at work. During the gig Big Generator Tweeted this photo along with the text ‘Rockin’ Reardens’….they certainly did
In Havana Browns the second instalment of the DJ Series kicked off with Ivano Caffola and Chris Engel wowing the Havana Browns faithful with their unique and energetic mix of House, Funk and Soul. Ivano worked the decks like a master of his craft while Engel ad-libbed some beautiful jazz and funk riffs on his saxophone. The two men bounced off each other perfectly to create a beat that got your toe-tapping and your hips moving.
In The Secret Garden the very same night we had our DJ Dave Cronin busting out the tunes that consisted of Chart, Hip-Hop and a bit of Motown. Our top chef Danny Bird started off his Free BBQ a trend that proved very popular and continued throughout the course of the weekend.
Saturday 3rd August
Unfortunately Dublin beat Cork in the QF of the Football. Whether we will have our revenge in the hurling semi-final next weekend remains to be seen. Customers and Football fans still had a great night in Reardens with complimentary finger food at half-time to soften the blow. DJ JP Quinn rocked the late disco with a few of his old favourites to help us forget about our sorrows.
Sunday 4th August
On the Bank Holiday Sunday The Paddies hit Reardens stage with their dynamic mix of Trad and Rock. Afterwards DJ Ed Callanan played The Secret Garden fresh from his gig at Indiependence earlier that day.
Monday 5th August
What can I say about The Monday Club’s 100th Birthday Celebrations. It was, by all accounts the busiest Monday Club so far. It was sick. The place was full by Midnight. Unheard of even on our busiest Saturday nights. I would like to say a very big well done to all you frequent and loyal Monday Clubbers, we couldn’t do it without you.
But boy did we spoil you for The Monday Club 100. Free BBQ, Free Cakes, Sweets, Tangle Twisters and of course that now infamous Pinata which exploded to reveal Free Drink Tokens and Free Passes. What a night!
I would also like to take the time out to mention the people who make these nights happen, the staff at Reardens and Havana Browns. Go on the lads!
